Hello friends, and welcome to our weekly blog series on the making of WONDERTOWN!
We hope to shed some light on the mayhem and madness that is involved in putting together a quality actor-musician show in four weeks - all on a shoe-string budget!
WONDERTOWN is a new musical written by Bohemian Theatre Company's Artistic Director, Benjamin Mowbray, and is based on Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland - with a modern day political twist. It embodies all the Bohemians stand for - creating and performing engaging and entertaining original musical theatre.
The first week has been a cracking one: full of music, melodica orchestras, and post-lunch games of surprisingly competitive four-square. You know a rehearsal room is a good one when the walls are plastered with pictures of animated film characters and is constantly filled with laughter 😂
It's was a week predominately of the standard music-bashing and although there is still a significant way to go, we have made good headway and I think are all excited for what the next few weeks have in store. MVP awards go to the legendary Benji and Elliot for leading the rehearsals so brilliantly and with such enthusiasm (even when the 12 hour days reduce us to hysteria and our best dinosaur impressions). Long may it continue!
Stay tuned for next week's blog post on week two, and make sure to follow us on Twitter for all the daily goodness.
